SAEDNWS: Ahmad Javan of Iran won a silver medal at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships on Sunday.
Iranian wrestler Javan put up a strong run at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, but fell to Zaur Uguev with a score of 11-2 in the 61kg final, Tehran Times reported.
On his path to the final, Javan showcased dominance, defeating Ecuador’s Josh Kramer 13-2, Azerbaijan’s Nuraddin Novruzov 5-2, Ukraine’s Kamil Kerymov 8-4, and North Korea’s Kim Kum-hyok 3-2. Despite his impressive performance, the gold slipped from his grasp as Uguev claimed the top spot.
The bronze medals in the category went to Kazakhstan’s Assylzhan Yessengeldi and Azerbaijan’s Nuraddin Novruzov, rounding out a competitive and thrilling tournament.
The 2025 World Wrestling Championships continue in Zagreb from September 13 to 21, bringing together top wrestling talent from around the globe.
