Saed News: "Tammy Bruce," the spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, stated that Washington cannot avoid communication with Russia, as a lack of communication with Moscow makes no sense. She made this remark while technical teams from Washington and Kyiv were holding negotiations in Saudi Arabia.
According to Saed News, quoting Sharq, the new spokesperson for the U.S. State Department said in an interview with Fox Business on Monday (local time):
"The United States had not spoken to Russia for three years. Communication was zero. For two major nuclear powers and for the U.S. as the most important and powerful country in the world, not talking to a country like Russia makes no sense."
Trump and Putin held two phone conversations in February and March 2025 (corresponding to February 13 and March 18, 2025, in the Persian calendar), as announced by the White House. The discussions focused on restoring U.S.-Russia relations and resolving the Ukraine war.
During the second phone call between the U.S. and Russian presidents, Moscow supported Washington’s initiative for a planned ceasefire, including in the Black Sea. However, it conditioned its implementation on resolving several key issues.
According to the White House National Security Advisor, Russian and American delegations in Monday’s negotiations in Riyadh (today) will focus on halting hostilities in the Black Sea. In the next phase, discussions will cover ceasefire verification, peacekeeping forces, and territorial ownership.
Bruce also made claims about Iran, stating that following the resumption of Donald Trump’s maximum pressure policy, Tehran has no choice but to come to the negotiating table regarding its nuclear program.
The State Department spokesperson claimed: "Iran doesn’t have many options. They really need to understand that the world they knew has come to an end."
