SAEDNEWS: Abdul Salam Haniyeh, the eldest son of the late Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of Hamas, revealed new information about the way his father was assassinated in Tehran.
According to SAEDNEWS, In a recent interview from Doha, Abdul Salam provided critical information regarding the missile attack that resulted in the assassination of his father, Ismail Haniyeh, a prominent Hamas leader. He confirmed that the attack was executed using a guided missile that tracked Haniyeh’s mobile phone, which he had placed near his head while sleeping. “It was a guided missile that tracked his mobile phone, which was directly hit,” Abdul Salam stated.
Rejecting allegations published by various media outlets suggesting the presence of a planted bomb at the site, he asserted, “I believe that the story of the presence of an explosive device is completely baseless." He explained that bodyguards and advisors were nearby in another room, asserting that if there had been an explosive device, “the entire place would have been blown up.”
Abdul Salam highlighted that his father's mobile phone made him an easy target for the attack. “My father was attending an official ceremony and was carrying his mobile phone, so the operation was not very complicated.” He also revealed that Haniyeh had been in constant communication on that day, including a call as late as 10:15 p.m. on the night he was martyred.
Emphasizing the larger geopolitical implications, he stated that the raid was conducted "with American cover."
According to a statement released by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Ismail Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were attacked at their residence in Tehran on July 31. The IRGC claimed that the assassination "was designed and implemented by the Zionist regime and supported by the criminal government of America.”
In response to this act of violence, high-ranking Iranian officials have vowed to retaliate against the Israeli government. The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, remarked that the assassination has laid the groundwork for “harsh punishment” against the Israeli regime.
Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, the political adviser to the Leader, expressed on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that preparations are being made to punish a regime that “only understands the language of force.” He added, “The sole goal of the Israeli regime in killing the worshipers of the Al-Tabin school in Gaza and assassinating the martyr Ismail Haniyeh in Iran is to seek war and make the ceasefire negotiations fail.” Shamkhani concluded by stating that these preparations for punishment follow legal, diplomatic, and media strategies.
