SAEDNEWS: The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said that Prisoners of War (POWs) are symbols of resistance and steadfastness of the great nation of Islamic Iran against any excessive demands of enemies of this border and land.
According to SAEDNEWS, In a recent post on his X account, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kan’ani announced the celebration of the 26th of Mordad (August 16), marking the anniversary of the return of prisoners of war to Iran.
Kan’ani highlighted the significance of these individuals, stating, “The prisoners of war are the symbols of resistance, perseverance and steadfastness of the great nation of the Islamic Iran against any aggression, extravagance and excessive demands of the enemies of this history-making border and land.”
He further emphasized the importance of honoring the efforts of these prisoners, saying, “We honor the dignified and firm resistance of the valiant prisoners of war and cherish their unflinching efforts for elevating the status of the country and the noble nation of the Islamic Iran in the international arenas.”
In his remarks, Kan’ani also paid tribute to “all the martyrs of the Sacred Defense,” referring to the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988), and expressed reverence for all released war prisoners.
