SAEDNEWS: A senior Iranain lawmaker says that the lawmakers will review and discuss the recently signed agreement between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Iran’s Parliament is gearing up for a critical review of the recent agreement signed between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Cairo, signaling heightened scrutiny over the country’s nuclear arrangements.
Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament, confirmed that the commission will examine the deal in next week’s session. According to Rezaei, the Parliament has set two key conditions for restoring cooperation with the IAEA: the security of nuclear centers and scientists, and full recognition of Iran’s nuclear rights. He emphasized that the Parliament is “very insistent on this issue” and has criminalized any failure to uphold these conditions.
Notably, the Cairo agreement—signed on Wednesday by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi—does not explicitly address access to Iran’s nuclear facilities. Rezaei stressed that the agency must not monitor facilities that have been damaged, reinforcing Iran’s firm stance on protecting sensitive sites.
As the upcoming parliamentary review looms, this agreement has placed Iran’s nuclear policy back in the spotlight, highlighting the delicate balance between international cooperation and national security concerns.
