SAEDNEWS: Strange Snakes: The Desert Sand Boa Roaming Iran’s Semi-Arid Steppes
According to SaedNews, citing KhabarOnline, the desert boa (Eryx tataricus) is one of the snakes native to Iran. Adult specimens typically reach lengths of 35 to 55 centimeters. These snakes are broad-bodied, with short, thick tails, and a distinctive dark streak extending from each eye toward the body. Their coloration ranges from sandy to brown, and their bodies are covered with numerous spots.
These unusual snakes inhabit deserts and semi-arid steppes across Iran. They often take over the burrows of other animals and, at sunset, hunt lizards, rodents, and insects.
