IAEA Resumes Nuclear Inspections in Iran: A Glimpse into the Country’s Scientific Landscape

According to Al-Mayadeen, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has resumed inspections in Iran after a pause triggered by previous US and Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.

The Agency emphasized that the inspections remain confidential: “We cannot disclose the locations inspected, but we can confirm that they were conducted this week.”

This development follows the agreement signed on September 9, 2025, in Cairo between Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, and IAEA Director General, Rafael Grossi, to resume nuclear cooperation under a new framework. The recent accord represents a key step in restoring confidence and reopening channels for collaboration in the nuclear sector.

The agreement was finalized during a three-hour meeting in Cairo, after Iran and the IAEA had previously conducted three rounds of negotiations in Vienna and Tehran to find a practical path forward.

Grossi described the agreement as “an important step in the right direction,” highlighting the renewed commitment to transparency and cooperation.

This agreement not only signals a positive diplomatic development but also offers visitors and observers a glimpse into the careful and complex international efforts shaping Iran’s nuclear landscape.
