SAEDNEWS: Man Unearths Bronze Age Jewelry Hoard on Swiss Farm Using Metal Detector
According to SaedNews Politics Service, citing ISNA, a man discovered a collection of Bronze Age jewelry along with fossilized animal remains in a carrot field using a metal detector.
The discovery took place in August when a man named Franz Zann was scanning a carrot farm in northeastern Switzerland for metal debris.
Among the artifacts unearthed were a necklace composed of 14 circular bronze pieces, two spiral rings, and over 100 small amber beads. Other items, likely brought closer to the surface during plowing, included a bronze arrowhead, a shark tooth, a pierced bear tooth, and a crystal stone.
Following the discovery, Zann contacted archaeologists to examine the site further. Upon inspection of the jewelry, experts concluded that these items had likely been used by a woman around 1500 BCE, during the Bronze Age.
Archaeologists described the necklace as a “stunning object.” Each circular plaque in the necklace had small holes drilled to allow them to be connected with thread or leather.
No human remains were found at the site, but researchers believe the jewelry had been buried in a cloth pouch that had decomposed over time.
The historical artifacts will undergo restoration and are scheduled to be displayed next year at the Frauenfeld Archaeological Museum.
