Al Jazeera: The Iran War Was A Strategic Defeat For The United States And Israel

According to SAEDNEWS, the Al Jazeera news network reported that Tehran and Washington, weeks after the ceasefire, are still engaged in political disputes as they negotiate an agreement that Tehran sees as a gateway to improving its economy, while Washington seeks through it to restore stability to the oil market.

Both the United States and Iran consider the prospects for a quick agreement to end the Middle East war to be low. Tehran stated that reaching a deal still requires more effort, and Donald Trump also said he is in no hurry.

“Mehriav Zonszein,” a senior analyst at the International Crisis Group, said that the war achieved none of the objectives of the United States and Israel and has instead been a strategic failure. Trump called on Iran to abandon its nuclear program, but several rounds of negotiations and the war have not led to this outcome.

The report states that fundamental disagreements between the two sides continue, suggesting that the nuclear issue will likely be discussed in the next phase. Trump’s short-term priority may be ending the war, as he needs to reduce global energy prices and gasoline costs in the United States.

Ali Vaez, another analyst at the International Crisis Group, believes that Trump needs to focus on the midterm elections and improve Republicans’ chances of maintaining control of Congress. Zonszein also believes Trump has a personal interest in presenting himself as a victorious figure.

Zonszein added that Trump and Netanyahu launched a war they hoped would benefit them, but clearly it did not. He further stated that Israel has since emphasized continuing military pressure, military threats, and economic pressure, believing this approach will eventually yield results.

Vaez, noting that “no agreement satisfies Israel,” stressed that the Israeli regime will insist on opposing any deal with Iran.
