12 Days of War: How Iran Forced Israel and the U.S. to Step Back

According to Saed News, The deputy commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) asserted that Israel severely misjudged its war against Iran, despite deploying its full capabilities during a 12-day conflict.

Brigadier General Ali Fadavi said on Monday, “The Zionist enemy, along with the United States, entered the war confident of victory, but their expectations proved wrong.” He added that while initial communications occurred between regional leaders and Israeli officials in the opening days, the situation quickly shifted in Iran’s favor.

Warning of further consequences if errors persist, General Fadavi stressed, “If this trend continues, they will soon realize the gravity of their mistakes.” He pointed to Iran’s missile strikes over Iraq targeting key Israeli positions as proof of the Islamic Republic’s achievements during the confrontation.

Fadavi also emphasized that hostility from global powers, particularly the United States and its allies, has been a persistent feature of Iran’s post-1979 Revolution era.

The conflict began on June 13, 2025, when Israel launched airstrikes targeting Iranian civilian, military, and nuclear sites, killing several Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists in the opening hours.

Iran responded with a series of retaliatory drone and missile strikes on Israeli settlements and military installations under the operation name True Promise III, inflicting significant damage.

On June 22, the U.S. Air Force and Navy intervened, striking three Iranian nuclear facilities in a bid to relieve pressure on Israel. Tehran responded the next day with over 30 drones and missiles targeting a U.S. base in Qatar in an operation dubbed Glad Tidings of Victory, damaging multiple sections of the facility.

By June 24, after sustaining heavy losses from Iranian forces, both Israel and the United States agreed to a cessation of hostilities, marking the end of the 12-day conflict.
