Simple and Home Methods for Repairing Scratches on a Refrigerator Door

According to Saednews, With proper care and correct cleaning methods, you can keep your refrigerator looking shiny and well-maintained. If your refrigerator door has minor or deep scratches, you can easily remove them by following this article.

First, you need to identify the direction of the scratches on the refrigerator surface and determine whether they are horizontal or vertical. Cleaning should always be done in the direction of the stainless-steel grain. To find the grain direction, carefully look at the refrigerator door; you will notice small brush-like lines, which indicate the direction of the metal grain.

In the next step, clean the refrigerator door using a powder or cleaning agent to prepare the surface for removing scratches. To remove scratches from a stainless-steel door, the surface must be completely clean, because any dirt or contamination may worsen the damage. Then dry the refrigerator door thoroughly. Sprinkle a cleaning powder on the dry surface, and using a sponge, rub it in the direction of the refrigerator grain. Finally, wipe the powder off thoroughly with a microfiber cloth.

Using vinegar to clean the refrigerator door

Is there a special solution for removing scratches on a stainless-steel refrigerator? Do you think it is an important issue that should be taken seriously? Red vinegar is more acidic than white vinegar and therefore has stronger cleaning power. Pour vinegar into a clean container, dip a clean cloth into it, and thoroughly wipe the refrigerator door. Then remove any excess vinegar using a dry cloth.

First, use a non-abrasive cleaning agent to remove small scratches as described earlier. You can also use scratch-removal products such as grease-based solutions available in the market, or use a cream cleaner. Apply it with a soft cloth or sponge and continue rubbing until the scratches are completely removed.

If scratches remain, you can try using toothpaste. This can be done with a toothbrush and a small amount of white toothpaste. Unlike specialized stainless-steel cleaners, white toothpaste has abrasive properties.

If you use toothpaste to remove scratches, apply a small amount on a toothbrush and rub it over the scratches. As mentioned earlier, the brushing should be done in the direction of the refrigerator’s grain.

Afterward, clean the toothpaste using a damp cloth and continue wiping until no residue remains. Once cleaned, you may apply a small amount of olive oil to the surface. For relatively deep scratches, oil paper can also be used for cleaning.
