One reason cakes rise into a dome shape is that your oven temperature is too high. You should lower the temperature slightly compared to what the recipe states. It may take a few attempts to understand your oven’s exact behavior.

Another cause is how the batter is poured into the pan. If you pour all the batter into one spot, the cake may dome. It is better to spread the batter evenly in the pan.

Incorrect ingredient measurement is another factor. Using too much flour can cause the cake to dome. If your flour has been stored in the refrigerator and has compacted, measure it carefully using a spoon instead of scooping directly.

Using small eggs can also lead to domed cakes. The ideal eggs for baking should weigh about 55 to 60 grams each.

Overmixing the batter can also cause the cake to rise unevenly and form a dome.
