How to Prepare Black Mulberry Syrup at Home

Ingredients

  • Mulberries: 2 kg

  • Sugar: 1.5 kg

  • Citric acid: 1/4 teaspoon

  • Vanilla: 1/8 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Place the mulberries in a juicer and extract the juice. Strain the juice through a sieve to remove any solids.

  2. Mix the mulberry juice with sugar and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Stir 3–4 times during this period.

  3. Transfer the mixture into a pot (it should be large enough to prevent overflow). Cook over steady high heat until it boils and thickens to a syrup-like consistency.

  4. Dissolve the citric acid in 1 tablespoon of water and add it to the syrup.

  5. After 2–3 minutes, remove the pot from heat and add vanilla.

  6. Allow the syrup to cool, then pour it into a container and refrigerate.

Serving Suggestion

Pour about 1/4 of a glass of mulberry syrup, add ice, then dilute with cold water.
