According to Saednews, Mast-o Musir (yogurt with shallots) is a very delicious appetizer served alongside traditional Iranian dishes, and its taste is loved by almost everyone. Musir (Persian shallot) is a flavorful condiment rich in nutrients. When combined with yogurt, it creates an exceptional taste and offers benefits such as calcium, zinc, iron, phosphorus, and potassium. It supports cardiovascular health, helps reduce allergy symptoms, may aid in weight loss, and can help lower blood sugar levels.
You can use either fresh or dried musir when mixing it with yogurt. Mast-o Musir can be enjoyed with snacks or meals, allowing you to benefit from its remarkable properties.
Low-fat yogurt: 1 cup
Musir powder: 3/4 teaspoon
Dried musir: 1/2 cup
Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
Black pepper: 1/4 teaspoon
Soak the musir in boiling water for about one hour. Then chop or grate it.
In a bowl, mix the low-fat yogurt with musir powder, chopped musir, a small amount of salt, and pepper. Stir well.
Place the mixture in the refrigerator for a few hours so the yogurt absorbs all the flavors and becomes fully seasoned.
Dried musir can be found in herbal shops or specialty food stores.

It is better to use white pepper instead of black pepper so the yogurt does not darken.
The yogurt should never release water; otherwise, you will not get a proper restaurant-style Mast-o Musir.
Mast-o Musir can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
You can store dried musir pieces in a cabinet and grind them whenever needed.
You may add natural colors such as beet or spinach for colorful versions suitable for parties.
If you prefer a spicier taste, you can add a small amount of red pepper.
A very small amount of dried mint or pennyroyal can be added to reduce the “cold nature” of yogurt.
