SAEDNEWS: This idea is quickly becoming reality. Chinese robotics company UniX AI has unveiled a humanoid service robot called Panther, designed to perform everyday household tasks.

According to Saednews, this robot weighs 80 kilograms and stands approximately 1.6 meters tall. It can operate for up to 12 hours on a single charge. In a promotional video, Panter is shown performing tasks such as making a bed, cleaning surfaces and bathrooms, and even preparing breakfast. The company has also announced that commercial shipments of this model have begun, indicating that the robot is ready for real-world use.

For household tasks, Panter is equipped with two bionic arms, each with 8 degrees of freedom, providing a total of 34 degrees of movement. At the ends of these arms are smart grippers capable of adapting to objects of various sizes and shapes.

In the video, the robot uses a plastic spatula while cooking eggs and holds a toilet brush during cleaning. It even washes its hands in the sink and dries them with a towel afterward.

Panter’s body can extend vertically by up to 80 centimeters, allowing it to reach difficult areas—from high shelves to ground level. For environmental perception, it uses binocular vision along with a webcam.

Unlike many humanoid robots that walk on two legs and are more prone to falling, Panter uses a four-wheeled omnidirectional chassis, enabling smooth movement in indoor environments.

The robot determines its position using LiDAR and ultrasonic sensors and moves at a speed of about 1.89 meters per second—roughly equivalent to a brisk walking pace. Engineers behind the project emphasize that their main focus was not to create the most human-like robot, but rather to develop a stable and flexible model capable of performing a wide range of tasks.

In early tests and demonstrations, Panter successfully carried out various activities such as making tea, cleaning the kitchen, and operating a washing machine. Using integrated UniX AI technologies—including imitation learning and long-term planning—it can perform tasks step-by-step in a continuous manner.

Beyond household use, Panter is designed for broader applications, including assisting in stores, reception services, guiding tourists, elderly care, companionship, and even research and education. The company has not disclosed the robot’s price on its website.
