SAEDNEWS: Was the Empress Farah's Crown Designed to Match Queen Soraya's Eyes, or Was There a Hidden Story Behind It?
According to Saed News, the crown famously worn by Empress Farah Diba, the wife of Iran's last Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, was originally commissioned before their marriage. The crown had been ordered by Soraya Esfandiary, the Shah's second wife, who requested that it be designed to match the color of her eyes.
Despite commissioning the piece, Soraya never had the opportunity to wear it. Instead, after Farah Diba married the Shah, the crown became one of the most recognizable royal jewels she wore during important official ceremonies and state occasions.
In her memoirs, Soraya expressed her disappointment, writing: "Unfortunately, that crown was never mine." This remark reflects the unexpected turn of events that led the crown to become closely associated with Farah Diba rather than the woman who originally envisioned it.
