SAEDNEWS: The Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission has completed its review of a strategic bill focused on securing the Strait of Hormuz and promoting sustainable development in the waterway and the Persian Gulf, the commission’s spokesperson said on Sunday.
According to Saednews, Hassan Qashqavi said the commission had approved the remaining provisions of the bill, including Article 16, which stipulates that once the legislation takes effect, the legal framework governing the Strait of Hormuz will be subject to the new law.
Under the approved article, all provisions, laws, and regulations concerning the Strait of Hormuz that conflict with the new legislation will be annulled, Qashqavi said.
He added that with the approval of Article 16, the commission had completed its review of the strategic bill.
The legislation must still be approved by the full parliament before being submitted to the Guardian Council for final approval.
