Shipping Traffic Through the Strait of Hormuz Slows to Near Standstill

According to Saednews, Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz slowed significantly over the weekend, with no vessels recorded transiting the strategic waterway on Sunday, according to Reuters, citing ship-tracking data from Kpler.

Five commodity vessels passed through the strait on Saturday, while none were recorded on Sunday. This marked a sharp decline from the previous weekend, when 31 vessels transited the waterway.

The reduction in shipping activity came after the United Arab Emirates said that three vessels operated by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company were attacked while in transit last week.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Saturday that the United States must agree to Iran's conditions before shipping can resume through the waterway.
