SAEDNEWS: Eight Saudi oil tankers changed course to the Cape of Good Hope, according to Yemen's military spokesperson.
According to Saednews, Yemen's Armed Forces announced that eight Saudi oil tankers were compelled to reroute around the Cape of Good Hope, describing the move as part of an expanded maritime blockade targeting Saudi Arabia. The statement came as Saudi Arabia introduced a 14-nation coalition aimed at protecting international shipping routes.
Military spokesperson Yahya Saree said on Saturday that the vessels changed course due to Yemen's operations and stated that the blockade against Saudi Arabia would continue. He added that Yemeni forces intend to target Saudi-linked ships wherever they have the capability to do so.
Saree also said the military remains committed to ending the blockade imposed on Yemen and restoring what it considers the country's rights.
Yemen has previously announced a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia under what it calls a "blockade for blockade" policy, describing it as a response to restrictions affecting operations at Sanaa International Airport.
