SAEDNEWS: Iraqi President Nizar Amedi condemned the joint Saudi-US strikes on Popular Mobilization Forces (PMU) positions, calling them a clear violation of Iraq’s sovereignty.
According to Saednews, Iraq has strongly condemned the recent aerial strikes, calling them a serious breach of its sovereignty and a violation of international law. In a statement released on Tuesday, Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid's office emphasized that the attacks were unacceptable and inconsistent with the principles of the United Nations Charter.
The Iraqi presidency reaffirmed its firm opposition to the use of Iraqi territory as a launch point for military operations against neighboring countries. Officials urged all parties to respect Iraq’s sovereignty and avoid actions that could threaten the country’s security and regional stability.
The statement also stressed that dialogue remains the most effective way to resolve regional disputes and prevent further escalation, highlighting the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Middle East.
Meanwhile, the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), also known as Hashd al-Sha’abi, reported that several of its positions in Baghdad, Wasit, Nineveh, Basra, Kirkuk, Karbala, and Diyala provinces were struck early Wednesday. According to the group, the attacks caused damage to headquarters, military vehicles, and equipment.
The PMU described the strikes as a dangerous escalation and an attack on Iraq’s official security institutions. It also said investigation teams are continuing to assess the affected sites, warning that the number of casualties may increase as more information becomes available.
