SAEDNEWS: The Iranian Parliament convened a sensitive closed-door meeting on Wednesday with senior economic and security officials, including the commander of the Law Enforcement Command (FARAJA), to review current conditions.
A non-public session of the Iranian Parliament was held on Wednesday morning under the chairmanship of Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.
The closed-door meeting was attended by Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Madanizadeh, Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri Qezelje, Head of the Planning and Budget Organization Hamid Poormohammadi, and several senior security officials, including the Commander of the Law Enforcement Forces (FARAJA), Brigadier General Ahmadreza Radan.
In recent weeks, Iran has seen protests in a number of cities following the depreciation of the national currency and a sharp rise in inflation, developments that have increased pressure on household livelihoods.
Rising prices of essential goods and basic commodities have intensified public dissatisfaction, prompting the administration to introduce measures aimed at easing economic strain. These include increasing subsidies for the purchase of basic necessities.
The economic difficulties — exacerbated by sanctions and fiscal constraints — have made cost-of-living issues a central focus of domestic policy debates.
