SAEDNEWS: Hospitals in the Enclave Face Generator Shutdown as Fuel Supplies Run Out, Health Ministry Warns
According to Saednews, Gaza’s Ministry of Health has warned that hospitals are at risk of an imminent generator breakdown due to severe fuel shortages and challenging operating conditions.
In a statement, the ministry said the crisis threatens the remaining electricity generators with mechanical failure, as they are already operating under complex technical and engineering conditions.
The ministry added that hospital generators require more than 2,500 litres (660 gallons) of fuel each month to remain operational.
It warned that a complete shutdown would disrupt electricity supplies to numerous critical departments responsible for saving lives. The ministry also stressed that temporary measures providing limited amounts of fuel are insufficient to keep the generators running for much longer.
According to Al Jazeera, the statement noted that prolonged, uninterrupted operation has increased fuel consumption, while the urgent need for maintenance has further worsened the situation.
The ministry called on the international community to fulfil its humanitarian responsibilities and take immediate action to ensure the delivery of essential fuel and spare parts needed to keep hospital generators operational.
