France Extends Partial Curfews to Curb Unrest

According to Saednews, Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said curfews imposed in several cities on Monday had helped keep the night calm, warning that further restrictions would be introduced wherever necessary.

“These decisions will be made on the ground by prefects, in coordination with mayors,” he said on Tuesday.

The measures came after the government admitted that police had “lost control” during Saturday’s protests, which brought hundreds of thousands of people onto the streets to demonstrate against the rising cost of living and deteriorating public services.
