SAEDNEWS: Malaysia welcomed the latest development in the US-Iran conflict.
According to Saednews, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim described the ten-point plan proposed by Iran, which has received a positive response from the United States, as a “significant step towards peace and stability.”
“This proposal augurs well for the restoration of peace and stability, not only in the region but also globally. It is earnestly hoped that the negotiation process will be conducted in good faith, with a firm resolve to seek lasting resolution to the issues currently facing the region. Peace talks cannot succeed if the proceedings are cloaked in deception and double-dealing,” he said in a statement, as reported by The Strait Times.
Anwar emphasized the importance of turning the ten-point plan into a comprehensive peace deal, noting that it should benefit not only Iran but also Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen.
He further stressed that the international community must work to end the genocide and dispossession of the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza.
The prime minister also extended Malaysia’s congratulations and appreciation to Pakistan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for their “tireless and courageous diplomacy” in achieving this development.
“Pakistan’s willingness to engage with all sides, without fear or favor, reflects the highest traditions of Muslim solidarity and international responsibility. Malaysia stands ready to support and complement all efforts in this regard,” he said.
Anwar called on the international community to ensure unimpeded humanitarian access to all civilian populations affected by the conflict, emphasizing that the ten-point plan should serve as a turning point toward lasting peace.
“The world cannot afford for it to be anything less.”
