SAEDNEWS: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has launched a new headquarters for strategic national development, appointing former security chief Ali-Akbar Ahmadian to lead efforts to mobilize resources, attract global investment, and engage Iranian talent at home and abroad.
According to Saed News, President Masoud Pezeshkian is putting a sharp focus on boosting Iran's strategic projects. He has appointed Ali-Akbar Ahmadian, the former Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), to head a newly created body titled the “Iranian Headquarters for National and Strategic Projects Development.” According to individuals close to the president, the appointment reflects Pezeshkian’s commitment to mobilizing the country's resources toward achieving key national goals.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Pezeshkian described the new headquarters as a vehicle to bring the government and the people closer together. A major focus of the initiative, he said, would be to simplify and expand participation — especially for Iranians living abroad and for investors both within the country and from overseas.
Ahmadian’s primary responsibility will be to unlock Iran’s untapped potential, particularly by harnessing the knowledge and capabilities of the nation’s leading minds. He assumes leadership of the newly-formed institution after serving as Secretary of the SNSC from May 2023 until last week, when seasoned political figure Ali Larijani succeeded him in the role.
Ahmadian has also been a member of the Expediency Discernment Council since 2022. His background includes an extensive military career, having served in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) since the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s.
