SAEDNEWS: In the first part of his official visit to Pakistan, the Iranian president visited the tomb of Allama Iqbal Lahori, the country's Persian-speaking poet, a visionary, and political thinker.

Pezeshkian Pays Tribute at Mausoleum of Pakistan’s National Poet

President Masoud Pezeshkian has paid homage to Pakistan's national poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, by laying a floral wreath at his mausoleum in the city of Lahore, the capital of Punjab province.

In the first part of his official visit to Pakistan, Pezeshkian landed in the historic Pakistani city on Saturday morning, where he visited the tomb of Allama Iqbal Lahori, the country's Persian-speaking poet, whose verses and philosophy continue to inspire people across the globe.

Upon arrival in Lahore at the head of a high-ranking delegation, he was welcomed by former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif

The President, who is making a 2-day trip at the invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also signed the memorial book after visiting the tomb of the great Pakistani poet along with Maryam Nawaz.

Allama Iqbal is widely revered as a visionary poet, philosopher, and political thinker, whose idea for a separate Muslim state in British India, later led to the creation of Pakistan in 1947.
