SAEDNEWS: Iran’s Foreign Minister stressed that all IAEA requests must go through the Supreme National Security Council and that no final agreement text has been approved yet.

No Final Agreement Yet Reached with International Atomic Energy Agency

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi told the Majlis (Parliament) news outlet Khaneh Mellat that the law passed by the Islamic Consultative Assembly requires cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to be subject to the decision of the Supreme National Security Council. Accordingly, all requests from the IAEA are referred to the Supreme National Security Council for decision-making.

Araghchi stated that decisions have already been made regarding the Bushehr nuclear power plant fuel swap, which must be conducted under IAEA supervision, and that any cooperation will be carried out within the framework of parliamentary law to protect the interests of the Iranian nation.

The Foreign Minister also emphasized that no text has yet received final approval; some viewpoints have been exchanged between the parties, and IAEA positions have been submitted in writing multiple times. In any negotiation, it is natural for the parties to exchange views until they reach a final conclusion. Araghchi added that he does not know the source of the text referred to by the parliamentary representative, but it should be noted that this text is not the subject of negotiation or agreement.
