Gharibabadi: IAEA Must Reform Its Approach to Iran’s Nuclear File

According to Saed News citing Iran newspaper, The Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has left Tehran following discussions with Iranian officials regarding Iran-IAEA cooperation.

Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, said that Massimo Aparo, IAEA Deputy Director General, departed Tehran after talks with an Iranian delegation composed of the Director General for Peace and International Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and an adviser from the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. The discussions focused on the modalities of cooperation between Iran and the IAEA under the new circumstances.

Gharibabadi stated that it was agreed to continue consultations in light of the discussions held during the meeting.

He added that the Iranian delegation strongly expressed its criticism and protest over the agency’s failure to fulfill its responsibilities during the aggressive attacks by the Zionist regime and the United States. The delegation also conveyed Iran’s demands for reforming the flawed processes governing the IAEA’s approach to the Iranian nuclear issue.
