Group of Friends in Defense of U.N. Charter Condemn Israel’s Illegal, Unilateral Actions

Representatives from member states of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations have expressed solidarity with the Iranian nation and condemned the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

In a meeting with this group in New York on Monday, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs of Iran Kazem Gharibabadi, appreciated the member states of the group for their continued support for Iran, particularly during the 12-day imposed war.

He dismissed baseless claims regarding “legitimate defense” and “preemptive attack” by the United States and the Israeli regime, saying that Iran’s nuclear program has been under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (I.A.E.A.).

In a briefing meeting with representatives from more than 110 U.N. member states in New York, Gharibabadi said that the aggression against Iran is a blatant crime and a historical test for the U.N. Security Council. During this briefing, the Iranian diplomat described the Israeli regime as the main source of insecurity and instability in the region over the past eight decades.

In another meeting, Gharibabadi held talks with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (I.C.R.C.), Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, at the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations in New York on the same day.

Gharibabadi said that the Israeli aggression against Iran violates international laws and has been condemned by numerous countries; however, the United Nations Security Council (U.N.S.C.) has failed to react to this crime due to the obstruction by some of its permanent members.

Spoljaric Egger expressed solidarity with the families of the Iranian victims, calling for the expansion of interaction with the Islamic Republic.

Gharibabadi traveled to New York to hold political consultations and participate in two high-level U.N.S.C.
