SAEDNEWS: Araghchi criticized the “shameful silence” of Western governments after Israel killed five journalists, including Al Jazeera reporters, in Gaza City.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has criticized Western governments for their “shameful and deafening” silence on Israeli atrocities after five journalists were killed in a targeted attack on their tent in Gaza City.
“Israel just carried out targeted assassinations of several more accredited and high-profile Palestinian journalists,” the Iranian foreign minister wrote on his X account on Tuesday.
“Is that strength? Or the panic of a globally reviled regime that is going downhill? When all this is over, the world will remind Western governments of their complicity in these atrocities. Their shameful silence is deafening,” Araghchi further said in his post.
Israel struck a tent housing journalists outside the main entrance of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City late on Sunday. The attack left at least five people killed, including two Al Jazeera journalists Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqeh, and two camera operators of the Qatar-based news network.
Since the outbreak of the Gaza war in early October 2023, the Israeli regime has repeatedly targeted journalists in what is widely viewed as an attempt to silence reporting on the suffering of Palestinians.
According to Gaza’s Government Information Office, at least 237 journalists have been killed in Israeli attacks since the start of the war.
