SAEDNEWS: Israeli warplanes launched a series of attacks across southern Syria overnight, killing and wounding dozens, in operations widely seen as part of the regime’s campaign to fracture Syrian territory.

Syrian sources reported multiple Israeli air raids striking the outskirts of al-Suwayda early Wednesday.

According to al-Mayadeen television, Israeli jets bombed the Thaala airbase, located about 15 kilometers west of the city.

The strikes killed and injured several militants loyal to Ahmad al-Shara, better known as Muhammad al-Jolani, the figurehead of an extremist faction with links to Al-Qaeda.

At the same time, Syrian media documented two additional air attacks against the Syrian Army’s 52nd Brigade in eastern Daraa Province.

These raids targeted positions and gatherings of Jolani’s factions, who have previously collaborated with foreign-backed armed groups.

Late Tuesday, the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) confirmed that Israeli aircraft bombed the city of al-Suwayda.

The escalation followed a statement issued by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and War Minister Israel Katz, instructing the military to strike forces and weapons belonging to the new Syrian government in the area.

The Israeli regime’s officials claimed the presence of armed units in al-Suwayda violated what they termed a demilitarized status.

However, field sources indicated that nearly all Jolani-affiliated militants have withdrawn from al-Suwayda, leaving local Druze communities in control of the city.

Analysts contend Israel is exploiting claims of protecting the Druze minority as cover for a broader scheme to entrench its influence in southern Syria.

Observers view this effort as part of a long-term Israeli strategy to carve out a buffer zone along the occupied Palestinian borders and to weaken the Syrian state.
