How to Make a Deliciously Moist Turkish Chocolate Cake

Chocolate Soaked Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • Vegetable oil: 1 cup

  • Powdered sugar: 1 cup

  • Milk: ½ cup

  • Cocoa powder: ½ cup

  • Eggs: 2

  • All-purpose flour: 1 cup

  • Baking powder: 2 tsp

  • Vanilla extract: ½ tsp

  • Instant coffee (optional): 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Whisk the milk and sugar together for a few minutes until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  2. Add the cocoa powder, instant coffee (if using), and vegetable oil. Continue whisking until you have a smooth, uniform chocolate sauce.

  3. Reserve about 8 tablespoons of this sauce for later.

  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the remaining chocolate mixture and mix well.

  5. Gently fold in the flour and baking powder until just combined. Avoid overmixing, as this can prevent the cake from rising properly.

  6. Pour the batter into a baking pan and place it in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for 30 minutes.

  7. After 30 minutes, check with a wooden skewer. If it comes out clean, remove the cake from the oven. Avoid overbaking to prevent dryness.

  8. While the cake is still hot, pour the reserved chocolate sauce over it, letting it soak in.
