"According to a report by Saadnews' society service, Diana Armstrong has officially earned the title of the woman with the longest nails on her hands, as announced by Guinness. Since her youth, people in Texas have had a great passion for nails and nail art. She recalls moments when she would ask her mother to measure her nails and wonder if she could paint them in bright colors.
She said, 'I’ve always had long nails, but not to this extent. Even when I was a child, I always had long nails. My mother always grew her nails long, so I always had nails like hers.'
The story took a tragic turn in 1997 when Diana faced the heartbreaking loss of her 16-year-old daughter. It started like any other day. She asked her children to wake up before they went to the store.
While shopping, she received an upsetting call from her other daughter. She said, 'Tisha isn’t waking up.' Tragically, her daughter passed away in her sleep from an asthma attack. Diana says, 'That day was the worst day of my life.'
The day before her death, Latisha had filed Diana’s nails, and after that event, Diana couldn't easily cut her nails. She said, 'Every time I look at my nails, I think of my daughter. I think she’s my guardian angel.'
How does Diana manage daily tasks with her very long nails?
There are many questions about how Diana performs daily tasks, including using the toilet, taking a shower, and many other questions about her long nails. She explained in an interview about these questions:
'When I go to the bathroom, it’s like anyone else going to the bathroom. I just work with my nails in a different way. I use a lot of toilet paper.'
She has made many other lifestyle changes and prefers to avoid wearing clothes with zippers and has stopped driving, as these activities are challenging for her due to her long nails.
Some daily tasks are nearly impossible for her, such as washing dishes and making the bed. She explained, 'I have to be extremely careful with my movements.'
She has experienced a wide range of reactions from those who notice her long nails in public, most of which are positive and encouraging, especially from children. She says:
'When kids come up to me, I ask them how old they are, and if a child says, 'I’m seven,' I tell them, 'My nails are 28 years old and older than you.'
Now, Diana’s grandchildren are responsible for taking care of her nails.
Diana’s grandchildren often spend up to five hours filing and arranging her nails using 20 bottles of nail polish in a single session.
Recently, after 30 years, she decided to cut her nails.
