SAEDNEWS: A rare genetic condition has caused two brothers from Turkey to be born with different-colored eyes, making each sibling's eye color unique. The unusual condition has attracted attention due to its striking appearance and the rarity of the genetic trait.
According to Saed News, citing the Young Journalists Club, A rare genetic condition has caused two brothers from Bursa, Turkey, to be born with different-colored eyes. Mehmet, 11, and Kerim, 4, each have a blue right eye and a brown left eye. The brothers have complete heterochromia iridum, a condition in which each iris is a different color.

Their father, Suat Salman, explained that after noticing the unusual eye color of his older son, he consulted an ophthalmologist. The doctor informed him that the blue right eye might develop vision problems in the future and recommended regular monitoring. When their younger son was born, Suat and his wife were surprised to discover that he had the same rare eye condition.
Although complete heterochromia is uncommon in humans, it is relatively common in certain animal species, including cats and dogs. In newborns, the condition is usually caused by inherited genetic factors that affect the amount and distribution of pigment in the iris.

When heterochromia develops later in life rather than being present at birth, it may be associated with eye trauma, glaucoma, or, in some cases, serious medical conditions such as melanoma or neuroblastoma. For this reason, newly acquired changes in eye color should be evaluated by a medical professional.
