SAEDNEWS: Belgian Man Discovers After 19 Years That His Wife Was Not a Woman, Seeks Marriage Annulment
According to Saednews, A Belgian man has filed for annulment of his marriage after discovering, 19 years into the relationship, that his wife was not born female.
According to reports from Saed News Agency via Miniban, the man married a person named Monique in 1993 despite significant legal challenges posed by Belgian courts at the time.
He later learned that his spouse had been born male and had undergone gender transition surgery. Speaking to a Belgian newspaper, he said: “I feel terrible. It took so much effort to bring her to Belgium.” He added that the Belgian court had expressed strong doubts about her birth identity and documentation, though it eventually approved the marriage.
“I believed she was an attractive woman,” said Jean, now 64. He explained that he and his spouse had mutually decided not to have children, and he claims he was deceived throughout the marriage.
The couple reportedly lived peacefully for many years until Monique, now 48, obtained a full-time job.
Tensions escalated when she began working at a nightclub, where new social connections eventually led to conflict between her and her husband, resulting in police involvement. Friends and Jean’s sons from a previous marriage reportedly heard rumors about the relationship, and eventually Monique disclosed the truth herself.
Jean, describing his world as “destroyed,” is currently undergoing psychotherapy and has initiated legal proceedings for separation.
