Ingredients for the Cake

  • 190 g butter

  • 330 g sugar

  • 1/8 teaspoon vanilla

  • 3 eggs

  • 300 g flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1½ teaspoons baking soda

  • 90 g cocoa powder

  • 280 ml low-fat milk

Ingredients for the Ganache Topping

  • 250 g dark chocolate

  • 125 g cream

  • 10 chocolate Swiss rolls (Choco Rolls)

  • Fruit of choice (as needed)

Preparation Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Place the oven rack in the middle position.

  2. Line the bottom of a 23 cm round cake pan with parchment paper. Grease the paper and the sides of the pan.

  3. Beat the butter, sugar, and vanilla on medium speed for 1 minute.

  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating for 30 seconds after each addition.

  5. Mix and sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cocoa powder.

  6. Add half of the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and beat on medium speed. Add the milk, then the remaining dry ingredients, and mix for another minute.

  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 50–60 minutes. After two-thirds of the baking time, test the center with a toothpick. If it comes out clean, remove the cake. Let it cool for 15 minutes before removing from the pan.

Preparing the Ganache

Heat the dark chocolate and cream in a small saucepan, stirring until smooth and creamy. Let it cool slightly until lukewarm. Pour the ganache over the cake.

Crush some of the chocolate rolls and press them around the sides of the cake. Decorate the top with fruit and additional chocolate rolls.
