Joseph Toulouse, known as Hakim Toulouse (on the right of the image), was a French physician and epidemiologist who came to Tehran in 1858 at the request of the Iranian embassy. He served as the personal physician to Naser al-Din Shah for over 30 years. In addition, Toulouse taught medicine at Dar al-Funun to Iranian students. He passed away in Iran in 1897 and was buried in the Dolab Cemetery in Tehran.
