SAEDNEWS: Iran Says It Is Ready to Take on a New Leadership Role in the Region After War
Accoridng to Saednews, Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref said the government should assume a new leading role in the region following the war, arguing that the project of promoting “Iranophobia” has been neutralized.
Aref made the remarks during a meeting with members of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution late Tuesday, stressing the need for the government to respond to changing regional conditions.
“Iran is currently engaged with the United States and the Zionist regime directly,” Aref said, adding that even if recent negotiations between Iran and the United States result in a memorandum of understanding, Tehran’s position toward Washington will remain unchanged.
Referring to the post-war situation, Aref said the perceived neutralization of the “Iranophobia” campaign creates an opportunity for Iran to fulfill what he described as its new role in the region.
He also said European ministers had told Iranian officials that Iran’s resistance to the United States had helped end what they viewed as Europe’s own humiliation in dealing with Washington.
According to Aref, Iran was the only country willing to stand up to what he described as US pressure on the international stage.
