SAEDNEWS: Iran’s representative to the UN General Assembly responded to accusations made by Canada’s foreign minister, stating that no fabrication can absolve Canada and other Western countries of responsibility for complicity in Israeli crimes.
According to Saednews, Nasser Asadi, third counsellor at Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations in New York, has rejected accusations against Iran, arguing that attempts to portray the country as the main threat to international peace and security amount to efforts to distort public understanding.
Asadi said the “real insult” to international law was what he described as an attempt to whitewash the actions of the Israeli regime through disinformation, misleading narratives, demonisation and portraying Iran as the so-called “main threat to peace and security.”
He also criticised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks at the UN General Assembly, where Netanyahu described accusations against Israel over Gaza as the “biggest lie of the century.” Asadi instead referred to Netanyahu’s statement as the “biggest lie of the century.”
According to Asadi, statements by Netanyahu and Canada’s foreign minister cannot erase documented evidence, overturn court findings or rulings, or change what he described as the reality surrounding the conflict.
Asadi further argued that allegations and misinformation cannot remove what he considers to be the international and individual legal responsibilities of Canada, the United States and other Western countries for their alleged involvement in crimes committed by Israel in the region.
Canada’s foreign minister had described Iran as the main threat to regional peace and security during his address to the United Nations, repeating earlier claims and criticisms directed at Tehran.
