SAEDNEWS: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held talks with Mali’s Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, focusing on bilateral relations and international developments.
According to Saednews, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Mali’s foreign minister discussed bilateral relations and international developments during a meeting on Monday.
Araghchi expressed appreciation for Mali’s positions against violations of international law and unilateral coercive measures, as well as for the solidarity shown by the Malian government and people toward Iran amid U.S. and Israeli military actions.
He emphasized Iran’s intention to expand relations with developing nations, particularly African countries and members of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), and said Tehran was ready to hold a joint meeting with the three AES member states.
Reaffirming Iran’s support for the independence and national sovereignty of all countries, Araghchi criticized what he described as pressure and unlawful interference by some European countries in the internal affairs of Sahel nations. He also accused those countries of contributing to the creation and financing of terrorist groups and organized crime in the region.
Mali’s foreign minister welcomed the strengthening of ties between Mali and Iran and briefed Araghchi on recent developments in Mali and the wider Sahel region. He said Mali and other African countries would not allow colonial or interventionist ambitions by some European governments to be pursued.
