SAEDNEWS: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared two French diplomats stationed at the French Embassy in Tehran persona non grata, ordering them to leave the country.

Iran declares two French diplomats persona non grata.

According to Saednews, Iran has expelled two French embassy staff members, declaring them persona non grata after accusing them of violating diplomatic rules.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the decision late Monday, several days after Iran’s Intelligence Ministry alleged that the two French diplomats had attended a secret meeting in Tehran in July. The meeting reportedly involved suspects in a major case concerning alleged foreign infiltration and interference.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the diplomats’ activities breached international law, particularly the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

The ministry stated that the two French embassy employees would be barred from entering Iran. It said the decision was taken because the French government had failed to address their alleged misconduct or provide assurances that similar incidents would not happen again, despite several weeks having passed since the allegations were made public.
