SAEDNEWS: Democratic lawmakers are preparing a new War Powers Resolution aimed at limiting Donald Trump’s authority toward Oman after he threatened the Gulf state over the Strait of Hormuz.
According to SaedNews: A group of Democratic lawmakers is seeking to restrict Donald Trump’s war powers toward Oman after the U.S. president threatened the Gulf state.
Although such resolutions are largely symbolic, Democrats have increasingly used them as a political tool to challenge Trump. Similar measures have also been introduced several times to constrain his authority toward Iran.
California Democrat Ro Khanna told Axios that lawmakers might eventually have to introduce war powers resolutions concerning “192 other countries.” Virginia Democratic Senator Tim Kaine said Monday evening that he would introduce an Oman-related resolution when the Senate returns next month.

Kaine pointed out that the United States maintains “strong diplomatic relations and a free trade agreement” with Oman, arguing that Trump’s threats could ultimately benefit America’s “real adversaries,” including Russia and China.
Trump issued his warning during a Fox News interview, targeting Oman, a U.S. ally in the Gulf that has participated in mediation efforts aimed at reaching an agreement to end the Iran-U.S. war.
In the phone interview, Trump said that if Oman “gets in the way” of reopening the Strait of Hormuz, “we will bomb them very heavily.”
Later Monday, reporters asked whether he had run out of patience with Oman. Trump responded that he did not think the country had “behaved very well,” but added that the United States could deal with Oman easily, “just like other things we do.”
