SAEDNEWS: The Wall Street Journal reported early Thursday that the commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has proposed a plan to the U.S. president that would involve targeting Iran’s missile infrastructure over a period of up to two weeks.
According to the political service of SaedNews, the Wall Street Journal reported early Thursday that Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), has presented a plan for resuming military strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Citing informed sources, the newspaper reported: “Cooper has prepared an option for an intense air campaign against Iran that could last up to two weeks, with the goal of crippling the country’s missile capabilities.”
The sources said that U.S. President Donald Trump is considering the extent to which tensions should be escalated following Iran’s surprise missile operation. They added that the Israeli military could also become involved in a large-scale U.S. attack against Iran.
According to the Wall Street Journal, CENTCOM’s plan was developed because, despite U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s claim that Iran’s missile program had been destroyed, Trump has said that Iran may still possess between 21% and 22% of its missiles.
The newspaper added that some analysts estimate the figure to be considerably higher. It also reported that U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Daniel Caine and Hegseth have emphasized the need to preserve the United States’ limited air-defense stockpiles.
The Wall Street Journal also quoted a Pentagon spokesperson as saying: “The Department of War is prepared to carry out the president’s orders at any moment.”
On Wednesday evening, while speaking with reporters in his office at the White House, Trump claimed: “We’re going to hit them hard because it’s our turn to do it. They know it’s going to happen.”
