SAEDNEWS: Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, rejected German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s call for Tehran to end the conflict with the U.S. and Israel, calling it “beyond absurd.
According to SAEDNEWS, In a post shared on X on Saturday, Baqaei called on the German chancellor to direct attention to Washington and Tel Aviv instead of Iran, demanding an end to the war and accountability for the “abhorrent crimes” committed against the Iranian people.
“German Chancellor appeals to Iran to end the war! This is beyond absurd: demanding that Iran — the victim of an ongoing unprovoked aggression — somehow bring the conflict to an end. Why not direct your calls instead to the ruthless aggressors responsible for bombing and killing Iranians? Why not demand that the United States and Israel be held accountable for their brutal aggression and abhorrent crimes?” the spokesman wrote.
The United States and Israel reportedly launched their aggression against Iran on February 28, targeting and assassinating the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, along with top military commanders, despite ongoing indirect nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
According to Iranian sources, these actions have claimed the lives of more than 1,400 civilians, including children, and struck non-military sites such as schools and hospitals.
In response, the Iranian Armed Forces carried out decisive missile and drone strikes on US bases in the region and targets in Israel, framing the actions as part of a legitimate defensive response.
