SAEDNEWS: The British government is set to hold a Cobra emergency response meeting after far-right violence spreads in cities and towns across the UK.

UK Convenes Emergency Meeting Amid Rising Far-Right Violence

According to SAEDNEWS: A meeting scheduled for Monday follows UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's condemnation of the violent incident involving an attack on a Holiday Inn Express hotel being used to accommodate asylum seekers, which he labeled as “far-right thuggery.”

Starmer asserted that authorities will “do whatever it takes to bring these thugs to justice,” as over 150 individuals were arrested during a weekend of violence in Rotherham, Middlesbrough, Bolton, and other areas of the UK.

“I guarantee you will regret participating in this disorder, whether directly or by inciting it online and then fleeing,” he stated. “This is not a genuine protest; it is organized, violent thuggery that has no place on our streets or online.”

The unrest erupted in various towns and cities across the UK following a tragic stabbing incident that claimed the lives of three young girls and injured several others in Southport, near Liverpool, last Monday.

The police have identified the suspect as 17-year-old Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, who was born in Cardiff, Wales, and resided in a village near Southport.

In the aftermath of the knife attack, misinformation circulated on social media, fueling the violent anti-immigration protests throughout the UK. “To those who feel targeted because of the color of your skin or your faith, I understand how frightening this situation must be,” Starmer remarked. He further condemned the violence, stating, “Other minority communities are being singled out, with Nazi salutes in the streets, attacks on the police, and rampant violence accompanied by racist rhetoric. Therefore, I will not hesitate to label it what it is: far-right thuggery.”

Monday’s Cobra meeting, named for the Cabinet Office Briefing Room A in Whitehall, is expected to update the government on the weekend’s violence and discuss the response moving forward.
