SAEDNEWS: A new poll indicates that U.S. President Donald Trump’s support among Hispanic voters has declined significantly compared with 2024.
According to Saednews, Only 27 percent of the 800 Hispanic respondents surveyed by NBC News and Telemundo approved of President Trump, while 69 percent disapproved of his performance.
Nearly 6 in 10 Hispanic voters disapproved of Trump’s handling of border security, while almost 7 in 10 disapproved of his handling of immigration and foreign policy.
Meanwhile, about three-quarters of respondents disapproved of the president’s handling of the economy, and 78 percent disapproved of his handling of the cost of living.
According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, annual inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index, increased from 3 percent in January 2025 to 3.4 percent last month.
During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump promised to lower prices after inflation reached a 40-year high during former President Joe Biden’s second year in office.
Trump benefited from increased support among Hispanic voters and other minority groups that year. CNN’s exit polling of more than 2,000 voters found that 46 percent of Hispanic respondents voted for him.
However, after promising to carry out mass deportations of immigrants without permanent legal status and implementing such measures during the first 19-plus months of his term, Trump’s support among Hispanic voters has declined.
Two-thirds of respondents in the NBC News/Telemundo survey said the president’s immigration enforcement measures have gone too far. Meanwhile, 22 percent said he has taken the right approach, while approximately 1 in 10 said he has not gone far enough.
More than 8 in 10 respondents said they support deporting immigrants who entered the United States illegally and have committed serious crimes. However, fewer than 4 in 10 supported deporting every migrant who lacks permanent legal status.
“Frankly, it’s the hardest job that I’ve had,” Trump said Wednesday regarding immigration enforcement. “They’ll say you’re too tough or you’re too soft. Get tougher, get softer. No matter what you do, it’s always tough,” he added.
The increasing disapproval of Trump among Hispanic voters was reflected in the political preferences of respondents. Democrats held a 24-point advantage over Republicans when respondents were asked which party they wanted to control Congress after the midterm elections.
The poll, conducted by NBC News and Telemundo from September 21 to 28, had a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
