According to SaedNews: The 2026-27 English Premier League season got underway on Friday night at London’s Emirates Stadium, where defending champions Arsenal faced newly promoted Coventry. Arsenal opened their campaign with a 3-0 victory.
Kai Havertz put the hosts ahead in the 15th minute before Bukayo Saka doubled the lead eight minutes later. Martin Odegaard added a third in the 49th minute for Mikel Arteta’s team.

Tom Bramall officiated the match, handing yellow cards to Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes and Coventry’s Caleb Yirenkyi.
Coventry, back in the Premier League after years away, had former England international Frank Lampard in charge as head coach.
Arsenal, who won the title last season, were clearly superior on the night. The champions recorded 19 shots to Coventry’s four, enjoyed 65 percent possession compared with 35 percent for the visitors, and completed 590 passes against Coventry’s 343.
The opening round of the Premier League continues on Saturday with five matches. Among the most notable fixtures, Manchester United will travel to face Hull City, while Tottenham will be away against Brentford.
