According to the Saed News analytical-reporting website, the historical texture of the gardens in the city of Tiran—with 40 kilometers of alley gardens, mudbrick walls, and unique stone doors dating back 2,000 years—has now attracted many tourists. In 2018, 800 stone doors and gateways in Tiran were registered on Iran’s National Heritage List.

Historical research shows that in the past, there were about 1,500 of these stone doors, but over the years, some were turned into bridges, destroyed, or lost.

The City of Alley Gardens and Stone Doors
Tiran, the capital of Tiran and Karvan County in the southwest of Isfahan Province, is famous for its alley gardens and stone doors. These stone doors are rare among the historical monuments of the country and date back to before the arrival of the Aryans in Iran. The stone doors of the gardens themselves are one of the tourist attractions of this city of alley gardens. Some of the stone doors feature beautiful designs, such as roses. Although the stone doors are extremely heavy, they open and close easily—a key characteristic of the garden stone doors in Tiran.
