Mauritius is a beautiful island in the Indian Ocean. One of the wonders of this island is its waterfall that appears to be inside the water. The Mauritius waterfall seems as if the ocean water is flowing into a hole below, but in reality, there is no waterfall in the water, and it only appears that way.
🏖️ Mauritius, or the Republic of Mauritius, is an island country in the Indian Ocean, located approximately 900 kilometers east of Madagascar. The population of the country is about 1.3 million people, and its capital is Port Louis. In addition to the main island of Mauritius, the republic also includes the Agalega Islands, the Cargados Carajos Islands, and Rodrigues Island.
On the southwest coast of the island, the Mauritius waterfall flows. This fascinating waterfall is formed under the sea and has amazed many people. There is no real waterfall here. The sand, mud, and sediments on the ocean floor have formed a shape and pathway that makes it appear as though a waterfall is flowing beneath the ocean. Sometimes, it seems like the whole island of Mauritius is sinking beneath the water. The image of this part of the ocean looks so real that it's hard to believe it's not actually there. Even in Google Maps and satellite images from space stations, this depression is clearly visible. In reality, it’s the movement of underwater currents that creates this amazing illusion.
Mauritius Nature Park
La Vanille Nature Park is located in the southern part of Mauritius. This 3.5-hectare park is an ideal place to visit and enjoy the tropical nature of the island. The park is famous worldwide for its giant tortoises, which you can visit, walk alongside, and take photos with. There are over 1,000 tortoises in the park, making it a special place. Visiting other parts of the park, which also houses other animals such as iguanas, monkeys, crocodiles, and many others, can be an enjoyable experience for nature park and zoo enthusiasts.
Tamarin and Gris Beaches
Tamarin Beach, located on the southwestern coast, is commonly known as Black River. It was previously called Santosa Bay and features several sandy beach shelters and old-style hotels, making it suitable for walking and fishing. Gris Gris Beach, located in the southern region of the island, offers a unique experience for tourists, as it is quite different from the other modern and developed beaches on the island. This untouched beach has a generally rocky coastline, making swimming difficult. Gris Gris Beach, located in the mountains, is one of the longest beaches on the island. Its curved coastline with soft sands is easily accessible. Swimming and diving are popular activities here, and the abundant and massive palm trees make it a perfect place to sunbathe.
Mauritius Aquarium
Make sure to visit this aquarium during your trip to the island. Around 200 species of marine life, including crown squirrelfish, crabs, moray eels, lionfish, and various types of octopuses, live in five massive tanks. In the largest tank, you can see sharks, moray eels, and turtles. Even if you’re not interested in diving, visiting this aquarium allows you to see nearly all the life of the Indian Ocean's seabed.
