Maduro Offers Trump Direct Dialogue Revival Amid Rising Tensions

On September 21, Venezuela’s Minister of Information and Communication, Freddy Nanez, published a letter from President Nicolás Maduro on Telegram, in which Maduro offered to maintain “direct and frank communication” with former U.S. President Donald Trump to resolve any disputes between the two governments.

Maduro firmly denied allegations linking Venezuela’s leadership to drug trafficking, calling them “absolutely false” and part of “fake news” aimed at justifying armed conflict escalation. He cited UN and international data confirming that Venezuela is not a drug-producing nation and actively combats trafficking along its Colombian border.

In his appeal, Maduro praised Trump’s efforts to address global conflicts and urged the U.S. to help maintain peace in Latin America and the Caribbean. He emphasized Venezuela’s readiness to “defend peace” and promote dialogue and mutual understanding across the Western Hemisphere.
